Bloodworms

Bloodworms

Bloodworms are the aquatic larvae of non-biting midge flies (Chironomidae), prized as a high-protein, live or frozen food for aquarium fish, fry, and shrimp. They contain natural hemoglobin, giving them a distinctive red color and high iron content. Bloodworms are highly palatable and trigger strong feeding responses in most carnivorous and omnivorous ornamental fish.

Key Features:

  • High Protein: 55-65% crude protein (dry weight).
  • Natural Red Color: Attracts fish and enhances coloration.
  • Multiple Forms: Live, frozen, freeze-dried, or gel.
  • Pure Culture: Disease-free, no parasites.
Brine Shrimp

Brine Shrimp

Brine shrimp (Artemia) are small crustaceans used extensively as live or frozen food for aquarium fish, especially marine larvae and fry. Their eggs (cysts) can be stored dry and hatched on demand to produce live nauplii (larvae). Brine shrimp are rich in protein and can be bioencapsulated with nutrients to fortify fish diets. Essential for ornamental and marine hatcheries.

Key Features:

  • On-Demand Hatching: Dormant cysts stored for years, hatch in 24-48h.
  • Superior Fry Food: Perfect size (400-500 microns for nauplii).
  • Bioencapsulation: Can carry vitamins, medications, or fatty acids.
  • High Protein: 50-60% dry weight.
Daphnia

Daphnia

Daphnia, commonly known as water fleas, are small freshwater crustaceans used as live or frozen food for aquarium fish, especially as a natural laxative. Their high fiber content helps clear intestinal blockages in fish. Daphnia filter feed, making them easy to culture and an excellent first food for fry. Richer in roughage than brine shrimp.

Key Features:

  • Natural Digestive Aid: High fiber promotes gut motility.
  • Easy to Culture: Reproduce rapidly in green water (algae).
  • Gentle Movement: Triggers feeding response in shy or small fish.
  • Available Live or Frozen: Cultured indoors or outdoor ponds.
Bone Meal

Bone Meal

Bone meal is a slow-release organic fertilizer and animal feed supplement produced by steaming and grinding animal bones. In feed applications, it provides calcium (20-30%) and phosphorus (10-15%) in a bioavailable ratio (approx. 2:1 Ca:P). Used in livestock, poultry, and aquaculture feeds to support skeletal health, eggshell strength, and growth. Also a valuable organic soil amendment.

Key Features:

  • Rich in Calcium & Phosphorus: Ideal 2:1 ratio for bone development.
  • Slow Release in Soil: Not applicable for feed – rapid absorption in animals.
  • Steam Sterilized: Pathogen-free for feed safety.
  • Fine Grind: Easy to blend into mixed feeds.
Blood Meal

Blood Meal

Blood meal is a high-nitrogen (12-14% N) animal feed ingredient and organic fertilizer produced by drying and grinding animal blood collected from slaughterhouses. In feed applications, it is an excellent source of ruminally-undegradable (bypass) protein (85-90% CP) and lysine. Used in poultry, aquaculture, and swine rations. Also valued in organic farming as a fast-release nitrogen source.

Key Features:

  • Highest Crude Protein: 85-90% in dry matter.
  • Excellent Amino Acid Profile: Especially lysine (8-10%).
  • Rumen Bypass Protein: Important for high-producing dairy cows.
  • Flash Dried or Ring Dried: Preserves amino acid integrity.
Fish Meal

Fish Meal

Fish meal is a highly concentrated protein ingredient made by cooking, pressing, drying, and grinding fresh or whole wild-caught fish and bycatch. With 60-72% crude protein, balanced amino acids (methionine, lysine), and available phosphorus, it is the gold standard protein source in aquaculture feeds (salmon, shrimp, tilapia), piglet starter feeds, and poultry rations. Also rich in omega-3 fatty acids (EPA/DHA).

Key Features:

  • Superior Amino Acid Profile: High methionine, lysine, threonine.
  • High Palatability: Naturally attractive to aquatic species and young animals.
  • Rich in Omega-3: Supports fish health and meat quality.
  • Low Ash Options: High protein, low bone content available (LT meal).
